Choose your Marriage Officer

You can get married at SA Home Affairs offices or choose a registered Marriage Officer to officiate your wedding ceremony at any venue of your choice. You can even get married on the beach, a wine farm or your special wedding venue

Receive your marriage certificate

On the wedding day, the Marriage Officer, witnesses and couple must sign the marriage register. The Marriage Officer immediately issues a handwritten marriage certificate. The marriage officer submits the marriage register to SA Home Affairs to record your marriage.

SOUTH AFRICAN CITIZENS

Copies of SA ID book/card of both Bride and Groom
ID photos of Bride and Groom
Copies of ID book/card/passport of witnesses
If Divorced – a Final Divorce Decree
If widowed – a Death Certificate of deceased spouse
If marrying Out of Community of Property, a Letter from your Lawyer confirming your ANC (Ante Nuptial Contract).

 

NON SA CITIZENS

Copies of ID book/card/passport of witnesses
If never married – a Letter of Non Impediment from your home country
If Divorced – a Final Divorce Decree
If widowed – a Death Certificate of deceased spouse<
